gLASSsHRiMP radio show – Wed March 10th 2010

only the 2nd email you’ve had from us this year (mass email problems)… but yes, the gLASSsHRiMP radio show is alive and well and broadcast live every week on Resonance 104.4 FM9.30pm til 11pm (UK time) – FM in London, streaming from
this weeka gLASSsHRiMP cassette special – side A
recent purchases by some of us ‘sHRiMPs highlighted the current healthy state of the tape scene and we (ok, i) decided on air 2 weeks ago that we’d do a show completely from cassettes and here we are… now expanded to at least 2 sides. well pleased to say that the first two  people that came to our collected minds are our featured guests…

featuring a specially recorded-to-cassette session from PhilMRiot (Southall Riot, Victory Garden records)
Phil (and Stuart) ran the S.O.U.L. cassette only imprint in the 00s as an off-shoot of their Victory Garden label. Sides Of Unequal Length ran to near twenty releases and is  currently dormant though not necessarily no more. under his solo PhilMRiot name Phil recently released a cassette-only album on Static Caravan; it sold out on release. delighted to receive the session on a TDK D46, it features songs & sounds old, re-recorded tracks from the Static Caravan cassette and brand new material.

and a very special guest live in the studio
the Tapeworm

The Tapeworm is a cassette-only label that has been releasing cassettes in runs of 250 or less since summer 2009. the label has been surrounded in mystery with much speculation as to who was behind it considering it’s ‘big name’ releases (Philip Jeck, Stephen O’Malley, Simon Fisher Turner) and it’s distribution via Touch. a BBC feature earlier this year ‘outed’ the Wyrm as one Philip Marshall and Philip joins us tonight to play cassettes, talk about cassettes and preview some upcoming releases.

around that we will be talking about & playing new (& a little old) music from cassette only releases and talking about ‘cassette culture’

in Bipasha’s bag tapeness from Richard Hell (ROIR), Skin Graft (Deception Island) & something on 2am Tapes

the Head’s bag inside his bag contains ferric delights from the likes of Johnny Scarr/Fossils/Spoils & Relics, the Super Vacations, Father, Crayola Summer, Fibo-trespo, Steffen Bash-Junghans – this time!

side B will follow soon…

tonight’s show presented by Kev the Head & Bipasha

next week live music from Toe Hammer
